Justice Subramonium Prasad of the Delhi High quashed a First Information Report registered against a man accused of assaulting, stalking, and threatening to throw acid on a woman if she declined to marry him.

The Court quashed the FIR after taking into account the age of the petitioner and the fact that the petitioner had already apologized to the complainant and the parties have amicably settled the matter; the Court believes that there is no useful purpose of continuing the proceeding.

Justice Subramonium Prasad directed the petitioner-accused to do social service to atone for his sins. He was directed to do community service at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital for a period of one month and report to the Medical Superintendent of the hospital. After completion of the service, the petitioner will file a certificate from the Medical Superintendent before the Court. An additional ₹ 35,000 was also directed to pay in the ‘Army Welfare Fund Battle Casualties.'

In case of any default or misbehavior on the part of the petitioner, the Medical Superintendent shall immediately report it to the concerned SHO, who shall further inform the learned ASC for the State.
