DRUGS AND PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCE ARE RESULTING IN DRUG ADDICTION AMONG ADOLESCENTS AND STUDENTS

The Delhi High Court observed that clandestine smuggling of drugs is resulting in drug addiction among adolescents and students. Narcotic drugs are having a deadly impact on society, single-judge Justice Subramonium Prasad observed while dismissing a bail application filed by a man found with 200 grams of smack.

“Organized activities of the underworld and smuggling of drugs and psychotropic substances is resulting in drug addiction among a sizeable section of the public, and the menace has assumed a frightening proportion in the recent years which has a deadly impact on the society.

The accused had been charged u/s 21/25/29 of the NDPS Act for supplying drugs to peddlers who further sold and distributed the drugs, commercial quantity drugs were also recovered from him. He moved to the HC after the Sessions Court rejected his anticipatory bail. The single bench noted that the investigation is at a developing stage and 

The Court dismissed his bail stating he is involved in another NDPS offense registered with the Crime Branch, and therefore he is likely to commit another offense while on bail,
