Empowering Women: PM Modi Aims to Turn 2 Crore Self-Help Group Females into 'Lakhpati'
In a virtual interaction with beneficiaries of government programs in Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his aspiration to transform 2 crore females associated with self-help groups (SHGs) into 'lakhpati' women. Seeking the support of the women, he humorously asked, "I want to make 2 crore women associated with self-help groups into lakhpati women in the country."
Modi engaged with Rubina Khan, asking her if she would assist in achieving this goal. Rubina, expressing an ambitious vision, replied, "I wish to make every woman in the country a lakhpati." The PM playfully remarked, "It is a political reply," eliciting laughter.
Encouraging participation, Modi asked the women present to raise their hands if they aspired to become lakhpati, to which they unanimously responded positively. Expressing gratitude on behalf of 1.03 lakh women associated with self-help groups, Rubina shared her success story of starting a business, acquiring a Maruti van, and contributing to COVID-19 relief efforts.
Modi praised Rubina's self-confidence and emphasized the crucial role of women in making the nation 'atmanirbhar' (self-dependent). He advised her to encourage her daughters' education and commended her for bringing a vehicle for her unemployed son. Rubina highlighted the impact of government welfare schemes and the financial independence achieved by SHG members during challenging times.
The Prime Minister acknowledged their contributions, stating, "I have a lot of work for them, but they have to support me in such initiatives." The women affirmed their commitment to realizing Modi's vision, concluding the engaging interaction.
