INDIA CANNOT HAVE TWO PARALLEL LEGAL SYSTEMS - SUPREME COURT
Recently, the Supreme Court said that "India cannot have two parallel legal systems, one for the rich with political power and the other for the small men without capabilities to obtain justice".
The SC bench Justices DY Chandrachud and Hrishikesh Roy made these observations while setting aside MP HC's order where the HC refused to revoke the bail of murder accused Named Govind Singh, husband of Ramabai Singh-a Madhya Pradesh BSP MLA while hearing an appeal filed by the son of the Congress leader who was allegedly killed by the accused.
The Court made these observations after the trial court judge alleged that he was subjected to political pressure. The apex court said that the act should be duly enquired and strict action should be taken if they are found true. The enquiry should be completed within a period of 1 month. The Apex Court also condemned the behaviour of MP DGP's failure to arrest the MLA's husband accused of murder.
