IT'S A SHAME THAT THE GOVERNMENT KNEW OF THE MAGNITUDE OF THE SECOND WAVE, IT NEVER PLANNED THINGS IN ADVANCE - ALLAHABAD HIGH COURT
19th April 2021
The Allahabad HC said, "It’s a shame that while the government knew of the magnitude of the second wave, it never planned things in advance" while ordering lockdown in 5 major cities of UP till 26th April,
Last week, the Bench passed an elaborate order suggesting measures and sought a response from the UP government. Yesterday, the bench showed dissatisfaction at the response of the government.
The Court said that the night curfew in the name of corona curfew is nothing but mere eyewash. We see people are largely not following our order for putting masks on their faces nor, the police could ensure 100% to date. The bench also showed dissatisfaction with the State election commission.
As noticed, the situation has worsened due to the recent outbreak of the Covid 19. If things are not arrested for giving some respite to medical and paramedical staff, the whole system will collapse, and relief will be confined to VIP VVIPs. We discover from the scenario that emerges from the Govt Hospitals that admission of patients to ICUs are largely being made on the recommendation of VIPs. Even supply of an antiviral drug, namely Remdesivire, is being provided only on the recommendation of VIPs. VIPs and VVIPs are getting their RT-PCR report within 12 hours. In contrast, the ordinary citizen is expected to wait for such reports for two to three days, thus spreading the further infection to other members of his/her family.
