The Kondhwa police team uncovered a hidden godown and seized banned gutka and tobacco products worth Rs 22 lakh. The Kondwa police arrested Vijay Gujar (24), Mohamed Ansari (23), Gulfam Ansari (22), and Mujjamil Ansari (22), all working for Ansari and would supply gutka from the godown to various places in the city. Police further seized three tempos, which the accused would use to supply gutka.

During the raid, the police found that Ansari owned multiple houses in crowded places, and he had converted all these houses into godowns. The hidden places were found by police constable Tushar Alhat and Jyotiba Pawar while they were on patrolling duty. They received a tip-off about a tempo supplying the banned products in Shivneri Nagar. They rushed and captured the tempo driver, who revealed the names of the other three accused.

Sources revealed that during a raid at the 500 sq ft house of Ansari, a small amount of gutka and tobacco products were found in the living room. However, the informer again called and informed the police about the hidden godown. A wooden door concealed the godown, and when the police removed it, they found the godown.

Presently, the Kondhwa police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and  Disaster Management Act, The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply, and Distribution) Act. The police arrested the three accused and a tempo driver but failed to arrest Ansari. The Kondhwa police are still looking for him.
