LETTER BEFORE THE ALLAHABAD HC SEEKING AN INVESTIGATION IN THE LAKHIMPUR KHERI INCIDENT

After the Bar Association of Budhlada demanded an investigation in the Lakhimpur Kheri, a letter petition was moved before the Allahabad High Court seeking a special investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or a Special Investigation Team against the culprits who ran over eight people including, four farmers. 

The plea moved by NGO Swadesh and Prayagraj Legal Aid Clinic said that the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra mowed down eight people by a four-wheeler even though the police kept an eye on the security measures adopted before any VIP movement.

The plea further argued that law and order in the state of Uttar Pradesh are in danger and could result in harmful consequences if the State does not take preventive action. A  suo motu public interest litigation petition should be registered, and cognizance must be taken against State authorities.

The plea sought an independent judicial inquiry and suspension of the Director-General of Police.
