The Union Ministry of External Affairs gave permission to a French company to sue Spanish 
Embassy in India for the recovery of Rs 7.08 Lakh along with interest.


The French company, Ultraconfudentiel Design Pvt Ltd is engaged in providing design concepts for commercial spaces and design execution at sites. In 2018, the French company and Embassy of Spain engaged in a contract to construct public washrooms, guard hut, etc. 


In 2019 the French company raised an invoice of Rs 7,08,000 which was not acknowledged 
by the Embassy.
The French company sent a legal notice to the embassy but a response was sought. Every 
effort of the company proved futile. Lastly, it sought permission from the Ministry of External 
Affairs to initiate proceedings against the Spanish Embassy in India.
Ministry of External Affairs gave permission u/s 86 of the CPC, which allows suits against foreign states, ambassadors, etc with the consent of the central government.
