A PIL has been filed in the Jharkhand High court regarding the ban of loudspeakers usage for Azaan. The PIL filed by BJP leader Anuranjan Ashok states that even before 1932, the mosques did not offer Azaan on loudspeakers. The petitioner gave a written statement to the Jharkhand government, but no action was sought. Therefore, it reached the Jharkhand High court for relief.

He also stated that the use of loudspeakers has nothing to do with religion, and noise pollution can also be curbed if the offering of Azaan over loudspeakers stops immediately. The petition further stated that Azaan is offered five times a day, and the sound of loudspeaker more than ten decibels is against the rule which the mosques have ignored. The petitioner urged that the offering of namaz on government land or the land around mosques should also be prohibited.

The High Court held that Azlan is an integral part of Islam, but offering it through the loudspeakers is not essential. Therefore under any circumstances, the usage of loudspeakers should not be allowed between 10 pm, and 6 am.
