The Madras HC released a person booked u/s 306 of IPC. The Petitioner and the deceased became friends through an online game. Eventually, she developed feelings for the petitioner; it was alleged that the petitioner had promised to marry her. The Petitioner later refused to marry the deceased after he got to know that she was a divorcee. During the circumstances, the deceased committed suicide by consuming poison. Hence, a complaint was registered against the petitioner.

The Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner should be released on bail as there is no allegation of Abetment.

The Court observed that the petitioner and the deceased developed friendship. Earlier, the petitioner was willing to marry her but later refused as he came to know that she was divorced. In the said circumstances, she committed suicide and there is no prima facie material available to show that the petitioner abetted the deceased to commit suicide and hence released the petitioner on Bail.
