PROTECTION FOR SANITATION WORKERS

The Allahabad High Court has dismissed the petition concerning issue directions to protect sanitation workers working in houses where Covid-19 patients may be residing.

The Division Bench of the Allahabad High Court disposed of the petition while giving the petitioner liberty to approach competent authorities of the Government of India and Uttar Pradesh.

The petition sought to provide certain facilities and protection to safai karamchari’s /sanitation workers/scavengers, who are discharging their duties under different local bodies, including the Cantonment Boards.

The Court disposed of the petition by observing that the guidelines prescribed by the different bodies concerning the extension of protection to vulnerable persons, the high court further granted the liberty to the petitioner to approach the competent authorities of the Government of India as well as the State of Uttar Pradesh for protection guidelines executed following the protocol introduced and the statute and law.
