PUNE BASED BUSINESSMAN AND MONEY LENDERS THREATENED TO HANG BORROWERS TO A WELL IF THEY FAIL TO REPAY THE LOAN AMOUNT
A Pimpri Chinchwad based businessman named Nana Gaikwad allegedly hanged his borrowers into a well in order to threaten them if they fail to repay the loaned amount. He would tie the borrowers upside down and threaten them to drop them in the well where a housed crocodile would eat them if they didn't pay the amount or ever reveal anything to the police.
Gaikwad was arrested on Wednesday after a stringent Maharashtra Control of organised crime act was invoked against him.
The Pune police stated that the businessman would kidnap people and take them to his farmhouse in Sus. He would torture them both physically and mentally. Innocent borrowers would either sell their jewellery or land to repay the loaned amount.
One of the complainants said that the accused would lend money at 10% interest and double the interest after 3 months, due to which people could not repay him. People fear Gaikwad and his son, and therefore, they were afraid to lodge a complaint against them. Even if anybody dared to file a complaint, the police would never take the case.
One of the complainants said that Gaikwad used to disrobe people and lock them in a room naked. One of the victims died due to a heart attack after the brutal incident.
Pimpri Chinchwad police are on the lookout for people who have been attacked by the accused.
