The SC bench of Justice Nageshwara Rao and Justice Aniruddha Bose refused to postpone the COMMON LAW ADMISSION TEST scheduled on 23rd July. The bench directed all safety measures and asked the authorities to insist students take the vaccination. The Bench further said that the examination is scheduled for 23rd July; postponement of the exam does not seem fit at this stage.

Consortium has failed to consider the warnings given by several agencies regarding the 3rd wave. The plea before the Court contended that the notification by the Consortium is arbitrary as the examination is conducted physically and students below 18 cannot be vaccinated. The consortium should postpone the exam till the situation gets better or secure an alternative method to conduct the examination.

The SC Bench said that the petitioners had challenged the 14th June notification, and a plea cannot be filed at the last moment as it would create massive suspense in the minds of 80,000 students.

The Hon'ble bench noted that a notice was issued on 14th July by the Consortium of NLUs stating CLAT dates for both post-graduation and graduation. As per the notification, a pen and paper examination was conducted at centres with Covid 19 safety precautions.
