SC ORDERED CBI TO INVESTIGATE THE 1994 ESPIONAGE CASE

The Supreme Court ordered CBI to investigate the 1994 espionage case against former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan. He welcomed the federal agency with open arms to make an investigation in the alleged police conspiracy to incriminate him. The scientist said, "I am happy. I sought a central agency probe that led to the conspiracy that delayed the country's cryogenic project".

A centre's plea was filed in the Supreme Court for seeking consideration of the report filed by a high-level committee in the case of Nambi Narayanan. He was acquitted of the charges and, in due course, awarded compensation of 50 lakh by the Supreme Court.
