STOPPAGE OF TANKERS BY ONE STATE WOULD HAVE A SNOWBALLING EFFECT AND WOULD ADVERSELY IMPACT THE CONCERNED STATE AS WELL - DELHI HC
27th April 2021
The Delhi HC observed that the State of Rajasthan is obstructing the flow of cryogenic tankers moved by Inox. The Division Bench comprising of Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rekha Pali further observed that any intervention in supplying medical oxygen in the country would tantamount to endangering hundreds of human life, if not more.
Inox made submissions stating that they started moving their four cryogenic tankers from Rajasthan to service the transportation arrangement from the plants of Air Liquide. However, their said tankers have been detained by the State of Rajasthan. This aspect has been brought to the notice of the Central Government represented by Mr Mehta.
At the outset, the Court observed.
We hope and expect that the State of Rajasthan to honour the orders passed by the Central Government and orders passed by this Court. Stoppage of tankers by one State would have a snowballing effect and would eventually adversely impact the concerned State.
The Bench also gave direction regarding the production, distribution, and supply of medical oxygen throughout the country and the NCT of Delhi. In addition, to prioritize the clearance of imported equipment and all required to set up and operate the RT-PCR testing centres.
