'Kantara', a recently released Kannada film, was ordered by a Kerala court to refrain from playing the song 'Varaha Roopam' in the movie without the permission of Thaikkudam Bridge, a popular Kerala-based music group.

The Music band moved a suit for injunction against the movie makers alleging copyright infringement of its song 'Navarasam' before the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Kozhikode.

The Court injuncted the makers, music composers, and platforms like Amazon, Spotify, YouTube, and Jiosavan.

After Kantara was released on September 30, 2022, Rishab Shetty's blockbuster Kannada movie and its composer B Ajaneeshh Loknath were accused of copyright infringement. According to Thaikkudam Bridge, the song was a rip-off of a song released over five years ago called 'Navarasam'.

Thaikkudam Bridge quickly took to social media to inform its fans that they were in no way associated with the film and would take legal action. Additionally, the song was released as if it were an original piece of work by the movie's creative team with no acknowledgment of their rights over the content.
