THE STATE GOVERNMENT IS TRYING TO HIDE DETAILS - UTTARAKHAND HC
The Uttarakhand HC bench comprising Chief Justice Raghvendra Singh Chauhan & Justice Alok Kumar Verma showed displeasure over the state government's decision to conduct Char Dham Yatra in July.
The bench observed that the State government is trying to hide details of the matter and orally questioned the Government as to why the cat and mouse game is being played?
Last week, the Court observed that holding Char Dham by the State government will re-invite Covid 19. The Court asked the State government to rethink its decision to hold Char Dham.
Today, the Court showed disappointment with the way the government filed an affidavit before the bench. The State Government submitted that after consultation with the Devasthanam Board, the state has decided to hold char Dham, to which the court questioned that if the government decided to conduct the event online, who is Devasthanam Board to question or decide your decision? In Response, the State government said that the priests do not agree with the live streaming of Char Dham. Shocked by the response of the government, the Court remarked, "If you give up to the troublemakers, are you even a Government? This time and again, the Government can't plead helplessness. If someone disagrees, ask them to visit the hospitals and show them pictures of covid 19 crises.
The Court lastly asked whether the state will compensate people who will die due to covid 19 if a correlation is found between their death and Char Dham?
