The letter states that Mr Kappan has tested positive for covid 19, he is chained like an animal to a cot, without mobility, he is not able to go to the toilet for the last four days, nor can he eat his food. Moreover, a writ of Habeas Corpus was filed on 6 October 2020, which was supposed to be disposed of on 9 March 2021. It has been still not disposed of despite being listed more than 7 times. Media is the breath of democracy, and it is an attempt for giving breath to a media person who is in jail for the last 6 months. Therefore, the letter prays immediate orders to release Mr Kappan from the Hospital and transfer him to jail as interim relief.
Kerala Union of working journalists has also moved to SC seeking transfer of Mr Kappan to AIIMs for his critical condition.
