Uttarakhand HC has created a dedicated email id for citizens to lodge complaints regarding solid waste management

A dedicated email id has been created by the Uttarakhand High Court for citizens to lodge complaints regarding solid waste management by authorities. This email address will be monitored personally by the High Court's Registrar (Judicial).

After noting that the State authorities are only issuing "paper orders" regarding non-biodegradable plastic bans, the bench passed this order.

Thus, the Court ordered the Registrar (Judicial) to create an e-mail address for [email protected], where the public could submit their complaints about the solid waste that is collected and not removed in any part of the state, whether in urban areas or rural areas.

Having complaints addressed by the local civic bodies will be the responsibility of their commissioners, the bench continued. Upon receiving complaints from the Registrar (Judicial), the commissioners shall inform the Registrar (Judicial) of the steps taken in relation to the complaints. Further, the bench stated that the State must publicize the email id widely so as to make citizens aware of its existence.
