HUSBAND BOOKED U/S 302 FOR KILLING WIFE USING A COBRA
An additional sessions court of Kollam, Kerala, held a husband named Sooraj guilty of the murder of his wife by getting her bitten by an Indian cobra. Sooraj was found guilty under Sections 201, 302, 307, 328 of the Indian Penal Code.
The death of the 25-year-old named Uthra created a lot of attention in Kerala after it came to light that she was killed after getting bitten by an Indian cobra. It came to light that it was the second attempt in her life. Earlier, she was attacked by a Viper snake(first attempt).
In May 2020, Uthra died due to a Second snake bite. Her family registered a police complaint alleging dowry harassment. During the investigation, it was revealed that a snake handler sold the two snakes to her husband, Sooraj, for Rs 10,000. Subsequently, Sooraj and the snake handler were arrested.
Sooraj's family were also booked under various sections under the IPC including, domestic violence and conspiracy. Later, Sooraj confessed to the crime and his intention behind the crime. He confessed that his motive was to make financial profits.
