TREE PLANTATION POLICY

On Friday, the Delhi Cabinet laid down the tree plantation policy to prevent the cutting of trees for the development projects in the national capital. The Delhi government has laid down the rule for the developer to carry out the development project, and the developer has to comply with this policy.
It has been prescribed that 80 percent of the total number of trees to be felled for any construction/development project must be transplanted to other locations as the agency deem fit. It will be the duty of the transplantation agency that 80 percent of transplanted trees have to survive on the location where it has been transplanted. Therafter they will receive the payments once it is assured that the trees have been transplanted, is survived.
Furthermore, the aforesaid policy will not be applied if 10 or fewer trees are to be felled.
