The division bench of Justice JJ Shinde and Justice Manish Pitale- Bombay HC asked the CBI and SIT on their Status in the murder cases of anti-superstition activist Narendra Dabolkar and Communist leader Govind Pansare.

The Bench asked for the status report after being informed by the counsel appearing on behalf of the families of the said activists that the trial has begun in the Gauri Lankesh Murder case of 2017 in Karnataka but the investigation in Maharashtra has still not been completed.

Adv Abhay Nevagi appearing for the families, reportedly submitted that there were a total of 4 murder cases - Dabolkar, Pansare, Gauri Lankesh, and MM Kadburgi. Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad found a link in all four cases, and the CBI has filed three charge sheets against the four accused in the Dabolkar Case. The SIT made no headway in the Pansare case.

The Bench posted the matter on 30th March directed the CBI and SIT to come up with positive statements. Justice Shinde further said, "Citizens must know that in such a sensitive case when the investigation and trial are completed".
