ESI Registration is the process by which businesses enroll their establishments and employees under the Employee State Insurance (ESI) scheme, which provides social security benefits such as medical care, sickness, maternity, and disability benefits.
Businesses with 10 or more employees and those where employees earn up to ₹21,000 per month must register for ESI. This includes factories, shops, and other commercial establishments.
Employees benefit from medical care, maternity benefits, disability compensation, and pensions in case of permanent disability or death. Employers benefit from legal compliance and employee welfare.
Documents required include the PAN card of the business, registration certificate, employee list, address proof, bank account details, and a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) for online registration.
After registration, businesses must make monthly contributions, maintain employee records, submit ESI returns, provide benefits, display ESI notices at the workplace, and update registration details when necessary.
